What Is the Teaching Assistant Bootcamp?

The Lancashire Teaching Assistant Bootcamp is a fully funded education training programme designed for adults who want to start or progress a career in schools.
Delivered with flexibility in mind, the programme equips learners with the core skills, knowledge, and confidence required to support teaching and learning in classroom settings.

This bootcamp is ideal if you are:

  • Returning to learning after a break

  • Looking to retrain or change careers

  • Interested in working in primary or secondary schools

  • Seeking funded training with clear progression routes

Our Lancashire Early Years Bootcamps run over a 6-week period and are delivered through a hybrid learning model.

Learners attend face-to-face sessions on Mondays and Tuesdays at Blackpool Football Club, with online learning via Microsoft Teams on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.

Course hours: approximately 9:30am to 2:00pm.

Who Is Eligible?

This funded training opportunity is available to adults living in Lancashire who meet the eligibility criteria. Funding availability depends on individual circumstances and course requirements.

You may be eligible if you:

Are aged 19 or over

  • Live in Lancashire / England

  • Have the right to live and work in the UK

  • Are unemployed, self-employed, or earning below the funding threshold

  • Are motivated to work in an education setting

Designed for Adult Learners

We understand that adult learners often balance study alongside work and family commitments. That’s why our Teaching Assistant Bootcamp offers a supportive, flexible learning experience with clear guidance and approachable tutors.

No previous experience in education is required — just a willingness to learn and progress.

  • As part of the Teaching Assistant Bootcamp, you will complete three accredited units from the NCFE CACHE Level 3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning, covering:

    • Safeguarding children and young people

    • Supporting the learning of children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND)

    • Understanding child and young person development

  • Our Teaching Assistant Bootcamp is ideal for those passionate about supporting children and young people in a classroom environment.

    Throughout the course, you’ll receive tailored support from the National Careers Service to develop your CV and prepare for interviews. You’ll also be guaranteed a 1:1 interview with Vision for Education during the bootcamp.

    After completing the course, our Learning Engagement team will continue to provide check-ins and additional support to help you progress into employment.
